Londolozi Safari Camp
The accommodation at this camp is stunning. The room is furnished in true 'Out of Africa' style, with space and lots more space. The bathroom is any designer's dream, and the views from the private deck are perfect for absolute relaxation. The game viewing was true to Londolozi's reputation, specifically that of leopard and lion sightings. We are pure South African, with the result that we found the food at Londolozi to foreign to suite our taste, but we are certain that European and possibly other South African visitors would probably disagree fiercely. Life is truely wild at this camp - elephants strolled through the camp one night whilst we were enjoying dinner in the boma.... It was a dream of ours for a very long time to visit Londolozi, but could not afford to go to one of the main camps of Londolozi at that stage. In hindsight, notwithstanding that the visit at Londolozi Safari Camp was enjoyable; we would rather try one of the other camps on a next visit as we feel we possibly did not experience the Londolozi which we read about in all the great travel reviews. Still, a place to recommend!
Lion Sands Game Lodge
We have nothing but words of excellence about this fantastic game lodge! Lion Sands is situated in the renowned Sabi Sands Reserve. On arrival at the lodge, we were welcomed at the car park with "secret recipe" drinks, warm face cloths... That's as much as we are going to share about their many "tlc surprises", as we do not wish to spoil the experience for the next traveller. We spent two awesome evenings at the lodge, with Game Ranger Gawie attending to our every need with the greatest of care. Our sightings included a leopard passing the safari vehicle at such close range that we could touch it, a pride of lions with cubs, and a lion kill. Gawie was not only a most gracious host during our stay, but displayed a genuine passion for the bush and its inhabitants. Our room had an en-suite bathroom and outside shower with veranda. Admittedly, the rooms are smaller than many other game lodges, but we did not require more space in order to experience the great ambience of the lodge. The food was outstanding, and the meal / snack times so frequent that it would be impossible to ever feel hungry during the day. All in all value for money and a place to return to!
PS. If you're into birding, Gawie is your man, so request to be grouped with him when you book your stay.
